Deepali,
As far as your query is concerned on following-up, you can send a casual email requesting for info on the outcome of the interview and whether it has been filled. In case they have filled the position, you can request them to keep your resume in their file for future opportunities.
Well... I am doubtful because the fact that you are an HR professional, and all of a sudden request to change to a much different profile (I am not under estimating the profile of front office person), would make them re-think on hiring you. Honey, your reason may be money - but the employer would not want to risk the chance of hiring you and making you feel uncomfortable with lesser challenges, and what if you get a better pay pack with another company in a few days? . Remember the biggest mistake in recruitment is - hiring a person who is over qualified and pay him well, But give no opportunity for advancement.
If salary is the reason for you to think of a change - I suggest you wait and look for other HR jobs with higher responsibilities (next level higher compared to your current)
Because as a secretary - or a front offfice assistant, the chances of a "Mgr - Front Office", "Sr. Officer - Front office" is NIL. Do you get my views? - there is no advancement in your learning and opportunity to earn as you learn
I suggest you look in for a core HR role. And here even employers dont mind if you are looking for a change for advancing to a higher profile and also earn a better pay. Nothing is easy in the initial period - but be focused and I am sure that you will do great!
Good Luck!
