Maintaining Electronic Data??? Whether Allowed Or Not?

Hello,All
I work for a Limited Manufacturing Company. We maintain manual registers for Attendance Muster, Salary Register, Leave Book, etc as per legal requirements.
We are goining for electronic processing of Attendance & Salary from new financial year.
Can any one guide me, what is prescribed Format of maintaining these records & Can we Mainatin Electronic data genrated sheets???
If Yes!!!what is procedure to apply for maintaining electronic data to labour office???:?:

you are working in a manufacturing and you have to maintain all records as per the different acts maually like attendance register ,salary register,leave record etc but
the same movement tou can maintain the record electronically and in that case you have to take permission from director of factories/chief inspector of factories.
you have to send one copy of each format to him with a letter that you want to maintain record electronically than he will issue a permission to maintain recrord electronically.

Under Shops and Establishment Act, to whom I shall seek a permission for maintain the records electronically.
Labour Department, Labour Ministry or concerned Labour Officer.
Office Location is Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu)
Kindly clarify the same.
