Dear all,
Recently, we terminated an apprentice due to absenteeism for more than 25 days.
The following procedures were followed: the apprentice was absent from the 26th of February. He was contacted after two days, and his father mentioned that he had some issues. The father was requested to submit a written leave application stating the exact reason for the absence, which they failed to do. We waited for some days and then sent a warning letter to appear promptly, but received no response. After some more days, the apprentice called and claimed to be ill. He was advised to provide a written explanation along with medical proof, which he also did not provide. We waited until the 20th of March and sent the termination letter via registered post. All these actions were discussed with the apprentice advisor, and copies of all letters were also sent to him by registered post.
Subsequent to receiving the termination letter, the apprentice and his father have been pressuring us to reconsider reinstating him, but we have declined all their requests.
I would like to confirm if the entire procedure was conducted correctly and seek advice on what steps should be taken in case of further pressure from their end.
Seniors, please share your valuable comments.
Thanks and regards.
