Confused About Salary Calculation for Different Monthly Days? Let's Break It Down Together

I have some confusion regarding per day salary calculation based on 26 days. The salary is $6000.

1. How can we calculate when the total days of the month are 27 without rest days and the worked days are 20?
2. How can we calculate when the total days of the month are 25 without rest days and the worked days are 20?

Could you please explain in detail?

Dear Sadiq,

It's totally dependent on the HR policy in your organization. In my opinion, you should provide them with overtime reimbursement. The amount would depend on the level and package of the candidate.

This may clear my problem.

Suppose in December days are 31 and I am having leave for 4 days. How many days am I eligible to get the monthly salary for December, for 26 days or 27 days?

Is it like Monthly gross salary/30 days * no days present = net salary, or will it be like Monthly gross salary/31 days * no days present = net salary?

Similarly, in February days are 28 and I am having leave for 2 days. How will the calculation be? Is it like Monthly gross salary/30/26 days * no days present = net salary, or will it be Monthly gross salary/28 days * no days present = net salary?

Similarly, in June days are 30, and I am having leave for 2 days. How will the calculation be? Is it like Monthly gross salary/30 days * no days present = net salary, or what?

31 days in 7 months, 30 days in 4 months, 28/29 days in 1 month.

If we treat 30 days for all the months, then 7 days are lost for payment against the employee. Only 1 month is having 2/1-day additional payment, but ultimately 5/6 days are lost to the employee.

If we treat 26 days for all the months, then what?

Which one is right in both cases? Finally, is the monthly wage/salary calculated based on the days in the said month or at a fixed number of days like 30/26 days for all the months.

This is my suggestion,

The company doesn't bear the loss as well as the employees. So, if the salary of the employee is already fixed, it means for all the months, they'll calculate for 30 days. This is standard calculation. If you take leave, they'll calculate like this:

Consider your monthly salary is $10,000. If you were on leave for 6 days, then your salary is going to be:

(10,000/30) * (30-6) = 333.33 * 24 = 7999.99, which is $8000.

This calculation may vary for "no work, no pay" employment. :-P

I worked in a private limited company with its headquarters in Bangalore. I have been with this company since the 1st of May 2006. However, they have not provided any details regarding my Provident Fund (PF) other than my PF number. Is there a website where I can view my PF account details? This is my first job, so please guide me and help me out.
