Salary Certificate vs. Salary Slip: What's Needed for Income Tax in a New Job?

noordeepkaur@gmail.com
Dear Seniors,

Kindly help me out by providing a solution to my question, "Is a salary certificate from a previous employer compulsory to submit instead of a salary slip for the calculation of income tax for the financial year in the case of a new job?"

Awaiting your response!

Regards,
Noor

Dear Noor,

Yes, a salary certificate is a must; otherwise, please provide Form 16. A salary slip does not have any authenticity for this purpose.

Mr. Malik,

In place of Form 16, can we give the salary certificate if there was no TDS deduction of the employee for the year? Could you provide me with the format for the same?

Thanks & Regards,

Dear [Recipient's Name],

You can issue a salary certificate for the same. Please prepare it as follows for Mr. [Employee's Name], son of [Employee's Father's Name], residing at [Employee's Address], who was employed with us as [Employee's Job Title]. According to our records, his salary details for the year [Year] are as follows:

- Basic
- HR
- Conveyance
- Show deductions towards PF, if any.

Thank you.

JS Malik
