How Can I Develop a Technical Competency Map for My Diverse Team? Seeking Advice!

Hi,

I need to develop a competency map of the current team, get buy-in from the customer regarding the needs, then conduct a gap analysis, and create a training plan. My team is divided into Mechanical, Electronics, Software Development, V&V, and Technical Publication. I am interested in developing just the Technical competency model as our performance system already addresses role-based competencies.

Hi Swapna,

Thanks for the document. I am trying to build a 3D map, and the third dimension would be based on the person's role in the team. As you know, we have leads and managers, and I am trying to define their skills for the same technical competency. Apart from this, I am looking at doing a gap analysis after determining the target levels.
