Exit Interview When Employee Was Fired/laid Off

Jhuma Tiwade
Hi,
There's difference in being laid off and fired.
In case you are laying off I think an exit interview should be done so that the doors are open for both parties in future and it will give a less embarrasing feel to the employee.
But as far as firing is concerned, the employer will hardly have any valuable feedback. So better not to do it.

Hi there,
It would be better that we could request them to fill in the exit interview questionnaire to get info that could be used later and to make sense that we do give due respect to the job that they have done while being good and requried... let us get into their shoes and find out and have a better understanding to deal with different set of people and avoid one on one meeting or so called exit-interview..
I had one such incident and it truly helped me.

Tks Priya for updating and commenting on the issue. Really it a good idea to have one to one casual chat instead of EXIT.INT.
Cheers,

Instead of an interview, it makes more sense to take the employee's feedback on what he thinks went wrong.
