Dear members,

Why don't we conduct a comparative study on the Professional Tax of different states vis-a-vis the per capita income of various employment groups, and the outflow of revenue generated by the government into the employee welfare stream? If professionals from different states can provide the data and information, I am prepared to perform the analysis.

Thanks,
Gopan

Dear Folks,

Professional tax can be revised independently by any Corporation/Municipality/Panchayat through their own decision approved by the concerned board. I suggest not to get confused and please reach out to your area Corporation/Municipality/Panchayats for updates.

I heard from one of my friends in Madurai that in Thirumangalam, they have already revised the PT slabs effective from the second half of 2008.

Thanks.

So, it may vary from place to place.

Dear HR Professionals,

Welcome to all HR professionals.

I have one question regarding Ex Gratia Amount. What is an Ex Gratia Amount? When is the company supposed to give it to employees? If it is mentioned in the offer or appointment letter under bonus components, can we provide an Ex Gratia Amount? What are all the statutory implications?

I am waiting for your valuable answers.
