Exploring HR Education and Career Development Opportunities: PHR Certification and Specializations

pmon
Hello seniors,

I am pursuing an MBA in HR, currently in the 3rd semester at Sikkim Manipal University. Undoubtedly, I will have to start working somewhere once I finish this degree. However, I would like to know what other HR courses or similar studies I can pursue to further enhance my HR career.

I have come across a couple of threads on 'citehr' discussing this topic of further studies, but I can't recall the names of the courses. Can anyone help me in this regard?

:( Please

Thank you.

You Sikkim Manipal University agents, stay away from this site. You people only post bogus advertisements of this fake university "Sikkim Manipal University".

Hey, Rashid Musa, what do you want to convey? 🤔😈

What harm is this university doing to you? It's better to be busy with your own business. If you can't help anyone, you don't even have the right to pass such comments.

Let me clarify, I am not an agent but just a student of S.M. University. I haven't advertised anything here, but I am seeking suggestions.

Do you aspire to be in HR? Is this kind of behavior expected from a future HR? 🤔

Please let me know if further assistance is needed.

Hi,

I see you are interpreting this differently. These university people are creating a mess. That's not fair, especially on this knowledgeable site.

Why are you creating hype? As far as your question is concerned, dear, theoretical knowledge is not of much use unless applied practically. Just focus on case studies; they will help you. One needs to be practically proficient. Also, consider joining a consultancy; in HR, experience matters.

Fine. And, my friend, don't take things to heart too much.

I think you need to be particular about in what domain of HR you want to pursue your career further. You may do further studies in a particular stream of HR, such as Learning and Development, Performance Appraisal, Laws, Organizational Development.

Hope this answers your query to some extent.

Thank you, Pinkii. You have cleared up some doubts. Could you please do me another favor by listing the names of various streams available in HR for further study and their durations?

Come on, Sonia. It's not a debate going on. If you don't have any solution to others' problems, then don't post uselessly here!

Hi Pmon,

There was a query answered by Rahul, PHR, on further academics in HR.

As guided by Rahul, one can go for PHR Certification after an MBA. After obtaining this certification, you can add PHR to your name, as doctors and other professionals do.

This can be done online from the US. You can visit the following website for detailed information on the certification:

HRCI - PHR-SPHR-GPHR Certification

In India, a Master's degree in HRM is preferred over any other certification. Still, if you are joining a global organization, a PHR would certainly be an added asset to your resume.
