Dear All,

Could someone explain to me the nature and functions of HR Shared Services?

Ramesh,

HR Shared Services is all about implementing different HR processes: Induction/Joining, Termination, Payroll activities, Absconding, and many other processes.

Shared services receive the inputs from Project HR and processing is done by the shared services team.

Hi Ramesh,

HRSS aims at achieving organizational goals, meeting the expectations of the employees, and developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees. HRSS is concerned with people at work and their relationships with each other. It may be defined as a set of programs, functions, and activities designed to maximize both personal and organizational goals. It ensures that the organization attracts and hires qualified, imaginative, and competent people.

HRSS acts as an assistance provider, mentor, and guide to employees in order to solve their problems and provide maximum employee satisfaction. The term "shared services" itself indicates that the HR department helps in sharing employee problems and tries to provide effective solutions in the form of services.

Different activities performed under HRSS include:

- Benefits administration
- Compliance
- Personal file maintenance
- General administration
- System updating with new joiners or departed employees
- Lateral confirmation
- Termination process
- Employee verification
- Deputation process if any
- Bonafide letters
- Joining process
- Joining formalities
- Payroll transactions
- Payroll memo
- Full and final settlement
- Attendance regularization
- Earned leave encashment
- Reporting
