Dear Friends,

I'm Prakash, a 24-year-old who completed my MBA in 2008. Currently, I am seeking a position as an HR executive or HR recruiter. I would like to know more about the responsibilities of an HR recruiter and how to prepare for interviews. Please help me understand what the role of an HR recruiter entails and what recruitment involves.

Thank you for your assistance.

Recruitment is one of the parts of various functions of the HR department. In real sense, it is finding the right fit for the right role and stimulating and attracting them to join the organization.

The HR recruiter's job includes:

- Assessing the needs of the organization
- Deciding on the sources (referral, job portals)
- Finding the right match (resume, Interview)
- Attracting them to join

Hi Pradeep,

I am basically looking after the generalist profile. Can you help me with questions that can be asked in an interview?

Dear Mr. Prakash,

You can start as a Recruiter and slowly move to a Generalist role. For recruitment, please go through the classified column of the newspaper, list all the technologies/skills, and study what they require and what is required to match the asked job specs. You will understand clearly, and then the next procedure will be sourcing the right talent from job portals by giving matching strings, talking to the candidates, and understanding their role.

Hope this helps.

Prashant.

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Cite HR, so I might tend to make slight errors. :)

Well, I am Sneha Shriyan, a final year graduating student (B.Com) from Mumbai. I would love to pursue my post-graduation in the field of HR and I am appearing for the entrance exam (CET) as well.

However, I want to do it only if I get into one of the best B-schools; otherwise, I'd prefer to work and then apply again next year or so.

I have only 4 months of work experience as an HR Trainee. I wish to work in any HR Consulting Company where there is good scope for beginners.

I can assure you that if I am given initial guidance, as I have work experience only in recruitment, I will deliver excellent results.

Do you think that as a beginner, I have good scope in HR consulting companies? Or will I have to start in a placement agency?

Hi Pradeep,

I am working as an Operation Admin. I used to do some HR work like screening, shortlisting the CVs, handling Joining Formalities, Written tests, and interview formats. I am currently pursuing my PG in HR and am keen on working in the HR field.

Could you please assist me with this? Also, I would appreciate it if you could suggest any additional topics where I can improve. You can reach me at sushmapradeep@ymail.com.
