Is the XLRI Post Graduate Certification in HR Worth It? Seeking Advice on Course Experience and Value

Dear members,

Can anyone please advise me on the Post Graduate Certification in HR conducted by XLRI? As some of you may be aware, doing the course involves attending two classes per week in your local city and in-campus learning in XLRI, Jamshedpur for a week. The local interactive classes are handled by HCIL through satellite communication. The course duration is 14 months, and the total fee is 1.8 lacs.

I would really appreciate the advice.

Thanks in anticipation,

Govardhan

Hi Govardhan,

Check out the link below... [link no longer exists - removed]

I am also reproducing what has been quoted in this thread by Ajit. Believe that helps.

Hi,

I am an alumnus of PGCHRM first batch and would like to clarify a few things.

First, the PGCHRM course is not a distance learning or correspondence course. It's a satellite-based interactive course with specific on-campus sessions. Unlike other courses, the certification exams will be conducted on campus itself.

Second: Your term-end exams will be held following the regular exam pattern for XLRI.

Third: You will be required to secure the minimum passing marks for all papers as per the academic guidelines of XLRI. In plain words, there is no backdoor entry to XLRI. You need to be as competent as any other XLer. If you fail to meet the regular passing criteria for the course, as it is the same for all courses in XL, you will not be awarded the certificate.

Fourth: After completing the course, you become an alumnus of the institute, and no difference exists between the on-campus and off-campus programs.

Fifth: Let me tell you, the pass-out percentage for this course is lower than the regular course, and you will need to perform exceptionally well to obtain the certificate. The dropout percentage ranges from 20-30% for this course.

The choice is yours now...

Thanks,

Ajit
