Employeer Asked To Justify My Position In The Company ....

Dear All,

I was inducted into this software development company as an administrator and HR. They are primarily into website designing and software development.

From my experience in this company for the last month, I understand that they are primarily a profit-driven company (maybe because they are at a nascent stage of growth). Previously, they had no HR personnel.

The owner of this company happens to be an ex-IBM project leader, so it is understandable that his knowledge about HR is not very high. Today, he asked me to formulate and present my plans and actions for the month of February. I really don't know what I can write to him justifying my position. As far as my knowledge of HR goes, our roles and responsibilities are generally fixed, such as:

1. Joining Formalities
2. Handling Employee Database (Both in Soft Form and Files Management)
3. Leaves and Attendance Management
4. Handling the payroll
5. Managing advance Salary, Ad Hoc Bonuses, Loans
6. Confirmations, Performance Appraisals, Performance Management
7. Exit-Interviews
8. Full and Final Settlement
9. Policy formulation and implementation
10. Employee Grievance handling.

Since it's a new organization, we don't really have many training needs, and duties like motivation and team building are considered a "wastage of time concept" for my manager.

Now, what projections or justifications should I provide him? Please help. :(

Yes, even for big companies, motivation and training, etc., are all essential for big CEOs and managers. You need to provide a smart and sure-shot reply. May the members help you, and may success be yours. SO MOTE IT BE...
