Professional Tax [Thread 141994]

Dear All,
I m to calculate the professional tax for our employees.
And there is one query, if any employee join on 30th of the month & work for 1 or 2 days. Would we deduct his/her professional tax for whole month. Or there is any rules for deduction for new employess for first month or for those employees who are resiging for their last working month in same situation.

Hi Akhi,P. Tax gets calculated as per the slab rates fixed in respect of the salary earned by the employee every month. Thus if an employee has joined later than 1st working day of any month, his salary also would get computed proportionately right? Hence depending upon salary earned by him during the month his slab rate for the P Tax purposes is identified.I hope this answers your question.Thanks & regardsPerumal
