Seeking Correspondence Courses in Competency Mapping for Aspiring HR Generalists?

nehadineshroy@gmail.com
Hi Everybody,

I am doing my PGDHRM (correspondence) from Symbiosis. I just want to know if there is any correspondence course on competency mapping available? Since I am working as a recruiter in a consultancy, I can't do it full-time. Please tell me about other courses that I should do alongside my PGDHRM. I am looking for an HR Generalist profile.

Thanks in advance,
Neha Roy

Sadly, there is no specific correspondence course devoted to competency mapping. However, there are short-term courses available from organizations like CII, IMI, IPC, etc. These courses typically consist of one or two-day seminars or lectures on the subject that are announced periodically. You can also include these courses in your CV.

Additionally, such courses are often included as part of larger programs on Employee Development, Organizational Development, Training & Development, Performance Management Systems, among others.

There are various methods of mapping competency, and it is essential to fine-tune them according to the specific requirements of the company where you intend to implement them.

Hi Santu,

I have completed a presentation and a project in my curriculum on competency mapping. I will upload the PowerPoint presentation for your review. Please take a look at it, and feel free to reach out in case of any queries.

Hi,

Can anyone please suggest if courses from Salaahkar consultants, like Certified Competency Mapping Manager, are recognized in the industry or not?

During these times of recession, competency mapping is seen as a time-wasting element in HR management because the management's focus is on promoting business rather than conducting research on employee psychology. Nowadays, management is becoming wiser and more discerning, avoiding falling into the trap of these time-wasting HR practices. Competency mapping is essentially clerical record-keeping of psychological data that does not generate any revenue for the company.

Competency mapping, as such, is not a course or subject that one generally comes across. What I have seen is that it is taught by industry experts in a seminar or symposium. So, look for such kinds of opportunities. Also, don't just wait for such opportunities. Instead, you could start by reading and exploring topics on competency mapping.

The Indian Society for Training and Development has a few chapters on competency mapping in its Diploma course. By reading and understanding the subject, you would acquire a great amount of knowledge. I would also suggest you register yourself on www.linkedin.com and network with industry professionals in your same field of interest - both domestically and across the globe.

Neha,

I have completed a course on Performance and Competence Development from CAMI/Middle Earth. It's a 2-day program. For students, there is a 50% discount, approximately 10k for the course.
