Hi Neha, please clarify whether you are looking for employee evaluation or evaluation of the job. Employee evaluation is performance appraisal. There are many performance appraisal systems. Evaluation of job profile is done by job evaluation methods. Job evaluation methodologies include:

- Point Factor Rating
- Factor Comparison
- Classification
- Ranking

I hope the above information will be useful to satisfy your query. :)

I would be glad if you could enlighten us and let us know what other kinds of employee evaluation are all about. These may not exist in human resources management books. :-D

Let me correct the following: The listed items are related to the job evaluation methodologies and not employee evaluation.

- Evaluation of job and evaluation of employee are two different processes.

Graphic Rating Scales
Straight Ranking Method
Paired Comparison Method
Forced Distribution Method
Grading System

The items listed below: Items are related to the performance appraisal systems and not to employee evaluation.

- Performance and employee evaluation are again two different processes. You may evaluate an employee's competence that does not necessarily include the evaluation of the employee's performance.

For example, if I possess competencies that do not guarantee my performance.

Checklist Method
Critical Incident Method
HR Scorecard
HR Accounting
Competency Mapping
Assessment & Development Centre
360-degree Appraisal
540-degree Appraisal
Management by Objectives (MBO)
Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale (BARS)

These are my comments to correct things in the proper order.

My intention is not to abuse anyone but to make things more technically correct; otherwise, it is going to be bad knowledge propaganda or misinformation to our fraternity.

Cheers,
Nawaz

Here is a sample of an Employee Evaluation. This tool is used for many purposes – at the end of probation, before confirmation, employee competencies are verified for suitability. Furthermore, before the final annual performance appraisal, periodic employee evaluation exercises are also conducted. I am attaching one such document for your understanding.
