now it is advisable to go in for iso 9001:2008 version, which has come into effect since mid nov 2008. it would be covering chairman to doorman, except the accounts or finance departments. the chapters would be asking whether you have system in vouge covering all the activities, and it is necessary to say how you are doing these activities in a manual and corresponding flow sheets or procedures. it is simple. there are number of auditing firms, who conduct the certification audits and recommend for certification if found acceptable, without major non conformances. where you are located, if in mumbai i would be in a position to help you out, since we are one of leading consultants for iso and related management systems

There are many authorised certification bodies like BVQI, DNV. You have to seek their help in getting your organisation certified. Before going in for certification you have to frame organisation objectives and department objectives and also the department procedure which you would like to follow to achieve the department objectives.

Based on your requirement and easy operations you can prepare procedures for different department and the main aim is that all employees speak the same language and every single employee is aware of their department procedure.

Once this is in place there should be an Management Representative appointed who will verify whether the procedure is being followed by the organisation by conducting Internal Audits through Internal auditors (You have to identify employees and give them training on Internal audit) .

Then the certification body will initally check the procedures in relation to the operation and give their recommendation and this is called the ceritification aduit and from there on every year they will do periodic aduit on the effectiveness of the system.

1. First identify an Management representative from your Company who will be the one point source of contact for all ISO related issues.
2. You will have to formulate an Quality policy and statement followed by
a Quality manual which will be the reference for your organisation on all quality matters.
3. It is advisable to talk to a ISO Consultant who will guide you through the steps before an Final audit bu a Certifying body like BVQI,TUV etc.
