There is no specific ruling in this regard. Any arrangement required to be done in an establishment which will increase the morale of employees and which is required to maintain good employee- employer relationship will come under the study of employee relations. As such, compensation, hours of work, weekly holidays and festival holidays, leave, workers participation in management, bonus, incentives, grievance handling, disciplinary action, strike and lockout, dispute settlement, job security, promotions and matters connected therewith, recreation, housing and education, etc shall come under employee relations. Once basic apprehension about continuance of employment or job security is removed much tension could be avoided. It is easy to handle employees of organisations which care the employees. If the employer thinks that employees are resources to be utilised within a long period of time, the system will improve.
