Is Our Electronic Time Attendance System Compliant with the Shops and Establishment Act?

rahul.kul
Dear all,

Please let me know whether the time attendance system, which is an electronically punching machine that keeps track of latecoming, logs overtime, records daily attendance, tracks absenteeism, and maintains leave records, is approved under the Shops and Establishment Act. Does it supersede it? Our company is in the manufacturing industry, so please inform me if it is approved.

Thanks & regards,

Thanks, Mr. Prakash. We have already installed the fingerprint scanning machine for attendance along with its software, and it is now connected to our in-house ERP (PEARL ERP).

I would like to inquire about the labor rules or factory rules concerning the computerization of the attendance system. Could you please guide me?

Thank you.

Dear Rahul,

What I understand is you want to use a computer-based time-monitoring system instead of a physical attendance register... Presume I am correct!

I would suggest please speak to your labor inspector as there is a provision whereby you will have to apply for maintaining the data in the prescribed format in an electronic form. This is possible.

Regards,
Partha.
