Pay Scale refers to the Basic Pay representing a particular designation with annual increment of pay. A scale of 7450-225-11500 represent the following.
A bigginer will get a basic pay of Rs 7450 and he will get an increment of Rs 225 in the next year thus making his basic pay Rs 7675 (7450+225), in the third year his basic pay will be Rs 7900 ( 7675+ 225) and so on and will continue till the basic reaches Rs 11500. In pay fixation, depending upon service, the basic will be fixed in between. An employee with 10 years of service will be given 10 increment and the basic will be fixed at Rs 9700.
The scale represents the basic pay only and Dearness allowance, HRA, CCA etc will be taken as percentage of the basic fixed.
