Considering PHR, SPHR, or GPHR Certifications: Are They Worth the Investment for My HR Career?

I completed my MBA in HR in 2004 from Pune University and have been working in the field of HR since then. I have been wanting to further my studies for quite some time now. Recently, I came across certification courses on PHR, SPHR, and GPHR.

I would like to seek your advice on whether pursuing these certification courses would be worthwhile and if they would add value to my career. Additionally, could you please provide information on the fees for these certification courses in Indian Currency?

These exams are basically related to U.S. Federal Laws. In India, a few companies of U.S. origin consider this qualification as prestigious. You may refer to the site www.hrci.org.

Dear Prachi,

To obtain your GPHR certification, you need to complete 6 modules. This can be achieved through e-learning, where you purchase the study material and take the online examination. The cost for the study material for each module is $650, which at today's rate of 49 is approximately INR 31,850.

One challenge of this certification is the requirement for recertification after one year. To meet this, you must earn points by attending seminars organized by specific certified institutions. However, it's worth noting that such seminars are limited in number in India.
