Can Employers Legally Force Leave Under the Industrial Disputes Act? Seeking Insights

Can an employer force an employee to go on leave (with or without pay), or would such an action amount to unfair labor practice under the Industrial Disputes Act? It would be helpful if relevant sections of the concerned legislation are quoted with any available judicial precedents.

Thanks,

Compelling an employee to take leave is an unfair practice, although there is no explicit provision in the fifth schedule of the Industrial Disputes Act.

Layoff is always a temporary arrangement. Any layoff following the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act is legal.
