Opening a New Branch in Metro City: What Are the Legal Requirements Under the Shop & Establishment Act?

We are going to open a branch office in Metro City (So far, we have a manufacturing location). We would like to know any formalities to be done under the Shop & Establishment Act. Are there any obligations regarding leave, shift timing, etc.? Is there any record/register to be maintained?

Shops and establishment acts rules vary location to state wise. You have not mentioned your location. There are definitely things to be maintained. But why call it as obligations; it is a part and parcel of any company. Yes, record books need to be maintained. You can get a specialized register for attendance and also attendance cards.

You have a special form for the shops and establishments, please check with the administrative office there. Regarding the books/registers, they are the same across.

Hello!

We have a branch office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and we have 18 branches across the country. Our headquarters are located in Bangalore. The establishment date of our Ahmedabad branch is 25.03.1998. Until now, we have not obtained the Shop Establishment Act Certificate for the Ahmedabad branch. Is it compulsory to apply for the same? Could you please send the procedure for obtaining it?
