Can anybody tell me what is the status of considering 1st May 2010 as a holiday, its legal status as per the labour ministry of West Bengal and India. I work in a private, big, non government corporate set up. Since the opening of the company 5+ years back 1st May has been considered as a paid holiday. This year it has been totally omitted from holiday list. Moreover 15th August has been offered as a holiday that falls on Sunday !! Can holidays be declared on Sundays?
