Hallo seniors,
I m doing MBA in HR(3rd sem):icon1:
I hav got a project (dissertation work) in a mobile-network service provider company. There i hav to reduce the cost of lunch per plate.
I dont hav ne idea regarding Canteen Management or so. I m helpless how should i proceed.:(

I know i hav to get a thorough knowledge abt the mrkt price of each n every vegetable ........ This i shall try by level best.....
But without any basic knowledge abt Canteen i cant even prepare a questionnaire.
So can you plz help me on it?
Also if ne1 has done a project related to Canteen , den plz forward it to me on [Login to view]

da main problem is dat its a popular comp. like dat of RELIANCE, so i feel shame to ask my ext.-guide abt dese silly things.
Also i got da prjt with reference thro my relative working dere. SO ITS A MATTER OF PRESTIGE FOR HIM IF I STEP BACK NW OR BEHAVE LIKE A FOOL. :cry:

1.Capture data--what is menu in lunch for evryday.means whether its same for all days or different.
2.make a list of every item.
3.work out cost,time,likeabilty for every item.
4.Search market(u can ask from ur mother also) for new ideas.
5.take CTQ(cost,time,quality) analysis
6.Suggest different and innovative ways.

But tell me does it come under HR project?As they dont hav kitchen - a caterer provides them readymade food
So wil it help me in HR dissertatn work -to get 800 marks?:confused:?

Is it an HR project? –as it involves cost cutting.

Dear Snow,
No need to worry too much for this.
In some companies Personnel & Administration Team is together
Eventhough is not core HR project, you can consider this project
for the purpose of Cost Saving (as cost saving activity is vital part
of all organisation)
And hence this will be helping you during your career

Note: Few tips for cost saving in Canteen,
1. comparison with other competitive caterers
2. Work out and make study for inhouse canteen
3. Grocery items cost comparison
4. Vegetables menu listing considering the cost and etc.,

But cost cutting here is nt related to employees..........
so its a pt. of question (during the presentation infront of my external during Practical)- for whose benefit did i do the prjt.?:confused:

@Snowwhite: in my opinion savings from the Canteen expenses comes from the process and the system followed at the company. For ur dissertation the findings and recommendations will also play a vital role; as company will only be interested in that. Hence mapping of different Canteen Management Solution is important.
