Introducing Employee ID Cards: How Should We Handle Outsourced Workers?

mantu71
Hi,

I am working in a manufacturing company where we have engaged some people in company payroll and we recruit some people through outsourcing. We treat them like company employees, and they enjoy all the facilities like our regular employees.

Now, we are going to introduce identity cards to our employees. While we have no problem issuing cards to our employees, we are unsure about what to do for persons engaged through outsourcing. Should their cards be different? If they are different, can we mention our company name on their cards?

Kindly suggest.

Dear Mantu,

You can definitely issue them an ID card. Regardless of the employee number, you can mention "TEMPORARY," "ON CONTRACT," or "SUPPORT STAFF."

Dear Mr. Mantu,

As far as the ID card for employees is concerned, you can issue the same. However, for the concerned outsourced personnel, the same needs to be issued by the outsourced agency.

You can issue ID cards to others recruited from outsourcing, but the thing is you have to mention "contract basis from [Company Name]" should be included.

Hi,

You can issue the ID cards, but you have to mention "contract" or "temporary" on the cards.

Hi,

You can provide a separate color ID card for temporary employees and a separate color for contract employees. Otherwise, give the same ID card but with a different color tag.

The embedded microchip ID card in the plastic card stores an individual's personal information, which can be read and checked against databases kept by China's security authorities. This massive transformation has proceeded largely under a veil of secrecy, with little public debate. Chinese officials say the new smart ID cards will stamp out counterfeit paper IDs, which are used in white-collar crime.

Dear Muthu,

Greetings.

You must provide an ID card to your employees as well as the outsourcing agency through their agency. Another thing I just want to mention is, if you do not differentiate, it will lead to IR problems whether it is an MNC or any other organization. Kindly provide ID cards and try to reduce facilities that are not applicable to outsourcing employees.

Get it issued by the outsourcing agency in the same format but add "ON DEPUTATION TO" before your company's name.
