How Should I Handle an Employee Who Leaked Company Credentials and Now Demands Salary?

ayushib
Dear all,

I had employed one person, and she has leaked out the monster ID and password to one of her friends, which she has confessed (written). The person has used the monster, and we have proof of this. Although we have asked her to leave, now she is claiming her salary also. She was in the probation period when she was confronted for the offense. She has left the company abruptly, saying she cannot have the courage to face us, but now is walking into the company for the salary.

Kindly advise.

Hi Ayushi,

If you have proof that she has leaked company secrets, then it's a matter of integrity. With proof, you should issue a termination letter.

Now, you can also refer to your company policy for guidance on this matter. If your policy allows, you can proceed with issuing a termination letter. I don't think you need to pay her as she has not completed her exit interview formalities.

Hi,

This is a serious matter, and the company should terminate the employee with immediate effect. You can have every employee in your organization sign an NDA.

Thank you all for responding and for your suggestions.

One additional point to note is that we have not yet provided her with an appointment letter, even though it has been over a month and a half since she was supposed to submit her documents.

Do we have any obligations towards her in this situation, and are we entitled to request compensation?

Thank you,
AB

Hi Ayushib,

If you have mentioned the confidential and non-disclosure policy in the appointment letter or employee handbook, take the action mentioned in the same...
