Hi Chandril,

Welcome! We look forward to your sharing and contributions to the forum.

Would like to know: what kind of work does an HR Consultant do in a tech company like Oracle? ;-)
Chandril
Hi,

Thanks, Shooonya. My role as an HR Consultant in a tech environment is quite challenging. I act as a bridge between the line managers and the HR operations team to facilitate resolving day-to-day HR issues.

In a wider spectrum, I need to provide strategic inputs to my product family head regarding ways to keep attrition under control, protect headcount erosion through value-adding workshops, etc. Additionally, I provide the basic framework for salary revision, competency mapping, and training requirements for employees in my line of business.

Hope this clarifies.

Regards,
Chandril

Hi,

I have joined Satyam as a Change Management Consultant, and it seems we are working on similar turf. I guess I will also be engaged in projects involved in large-scale IT implementations where the 'people' changes will have to be handled so that the implementation is successful with people's support. Without active support from people from the line and even right up through the management, no implementation, however proven, will ever be successful. What say?

Hi, I fully agree with you. I feel the most important thing is to make employees understand the intent of the organization, which requires them to change. Resistance is bound to come at an initial stage. Nothing comes for free in the world. The challenge is to keep the boat sailing. Does it make sense?

Hi Chandril,

Nice to see you in the forum. I think you are doing some interesting job. It will be interesting since the present-day company sees more attrition rate. I am expecting a good amount of contribution from your side on how you control this attrition.

Bye
Chandril
Hi Sreenivasan,

Thanks for your reply. Keeping attrition under control has something to do with reading employees' minds and gauging their expectations. It's a real challenge in today's scenario where opportunities are aplenty.

Thanks
