Struggling with Downloads: Are Your Files Also Ending Up as 0 KB?

EmployeeX
I may be the only one, but I seem to be unable to download any file correctly from this site. They always end up as '0 Kb,' and the Excel files display a message 'Unable to open' (This is because they download as 0 KB). I am wondering if anyone else is facing the same problem?

Dear Friend,

Which web browser do you currently use? Please check the settings and look to see if any privilege levels have been blocked by your system administrator.

I am using Mozilla Firefox and I have Admin Privileges with no blockages. I am able to download from other websites but not from this one. I have also tried using Internet Explorer, but the results are the same. I am thinking that my IP might have been blocked or that CiteHr is using some form of S.O.R.B.S. IP Ban protection.

During peak hours, our servers are overloaded with download requests, which possibly caused the problem. We have now limited the number of simultaneous downloads by members - this should help in fixing this issue. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

Just try using the system which has a direct broadband connection to the computer, or try downloading from another location apart from your office, like at home or a cyber cafe. I have never faced this kind of problem. Hope you can start downloading very soon.

Hi!

Even I suggest you try downloading the files from a different computer and check. Let us know if your problem still exists because I never had this issue with citehr.

Actually, I have also been facing the same problem. Docs/PPTs I download don't open on my system. Initially, I thought it was a problem with some old files, and then thought maybe it was my laptop getting sick. But after reading this thread, I realized that the problem I was facing was also specific to CHR downloads. Hope someone can help us resolve it.

Hi,

I was able to download earlier, but for the last few months, I have also been facing problems with downloading. In my case, it says that I need to become a member even though I am a member of citeHR.

I just solved my problem. It was on my end, actually. My whacky Firewall cum AntiVirus cum Internet Security Suite was causing it. When I had it disabled for a few seconds to download, it worked just great. Amazingly, it was not the firewall that was blocking it but the antivirus! That too, only for CiteHR!

Some of the attachments are corrupt - we just have to live with that - since this is user-generated content, it's difficult to guarantee that each user will upload the attachment properly. In case you find a corrupt file, just use the download search to find similar files.

Hi,

I am facing the same problem as the download documents are not opening (certain files). I have tried on many PCs and have also used Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla. Could you suggest a solution?

I have also asked the concerned person to forward the documents to my Gmail ID, but no one has responded. Kindly assist me with this issue.

Thank you.

I'm facing the same problem using IE7 file get download on my PC, but during the unzip process, it fails and shows an error in opening the file and asks to download again. I tried to download the file on a different computer, but the same problem is there.

Try to do something in this regard.

I'm facing the same problem using IE7 to download a file on my PC. However, during the unzip process, it fails to open the file and prompts me to download it again. I tried downloading the file on a different computer, but the same problem persists.

Please advise on how to resolve this issue.

Same problem from my side. I thought it was a problem from my end, but checked with the IT department. They say the issue may be with the site.

I do face the same problem many times while downloading PowerPoint (PPT) files from CiteHR. Though it can be seen that I have actually downloaded the complete file, it shows an error while opening the PPTs.

For those who have a firewall and antivirus, disabling it for a few seconds until you download may be a solution. For those who are trying to download off their office PCs, disabling antivirus and firewall will not be an option (unless you are the Admin!), in these cases, I suggest that you try using a proxy in Internet Explorer or Firefox. Search Google for Free Proxy and add that IP in your browser network options. Most Corporate Admins do block downloading to prevent virus issues.
