I have a query with regards to Pro rata calculation of leaves:
Currently in our organization, no. of PLs = 24. (2 leave per month - April to March ) and an employee is eligible for PL only after 1 year from DOJ and leave is credited to employee account on pro rata basis.
Consider the following Scenario:
Suppose an employee is joining in the month of August 2010, he will be eligible for PL in Aug 2011.
As per pro rata basis, no. of PL will be = 16 (8months from DOJ * 2 (Leaves per month)
So 16 leaves will be added in the month of Aug 2011.
My query is: what about the leaves for the year 2011 - 2012? when does leave for year 2011 - 2012 get credited to employee account?
At the beginning of the year i.e. April 2011 or after the end i.e. April 2012?
Since PL means earned leave and an an employee has to earn those leaves by working throughout the year, so should it get credited at the end of the year when the employee has completed working for that year?
