The most important of maintenance of leave record is that this document is auditable. During the period the excess/less payments ot the employee, the Auditor has every right to see that the funds are not mis-used. This helps the auditor to prepare the PL and Balance sheet for the Financial Year (FY). Yes agree excess, short fall, generate pay, leave encashment etc are other advantages.
