Creche Policies: What Food to Offer and Can Sick Kids Attend? Seeking Your Advice

Antony
Hi Friends,

Good evening. I am Antony, working as a Statutory Compliance Executive in an MNC. Just like knowledge sharing, I would like to know from all of you if there is any policy for a creche. Apart from the statutory provisions, I am interested to know what kind of food we can recommend for different age groups of children. Can we admit a sick child to the creche?

Looking forward to the experts' reply.

Regards,

Creche is mandatory under the Factories Act and the Plantations Labour Act. Under the Factories Act, it becomes the responsibility of the employer to set up a creche where 30 women employees are normally working. Under the Plantation Labour Act, however, it is mandatory where 50 or more women employees are working, or the number of children of women employees exceeds 19. These Acts have laid down certain hygiene matters which the employer has to follow. A child carrying a contagious disease need not be allowed in the creche, but the employer shall ensure separate arrangements for it.

Hi,

When it comes to providing food for children at the creche, it is essential to consider factors such as age, physical conditions, consumption levels, likes, and dislikes of the kids being admitted. Typically, food for the children should be brought from their respective homes, and the creche attendant should assist in feeding the children. In addition to regular meals, nutritious food items like boiled milk, biscuits, and other healthy snacks may also be provided.
