New to HR? Seeking Advice on Boosting Your Career with Forums, Seminars, and Certifications

Hi, I would like to know what extra efforts I can make to have a good career in HR. I'm a fresher in HR. Will joining HR forums or attending seminars add weightage to my resume? Are there any specific certifications I can pursue to secure good jobs?

Also, if you could let me know about recognized HR forums in Bangalore that provide certifications, I would be very grateful.

There is no specific way to add weightage to your resume by joining a forum or obtaining certification, especially in the HR field where only experience counts. You can understand many concepts and related issues by browsing CiteHR as there are lots of good articles to help you update yourself. This would definitely enhance your knowledge of HR activities. I am one of the beneficiaries of CiteHR. Of course, you can also consider taking up an MBA course with HR as the main subject, as this would add some weightage to your profile after you gain relevant experience.

Thank you for your response. While browsing this site, I saw a lot of certifications being offered. I want to know how valid these are and if it's worth taking as a couple of them looked pretty interesting to me. I want to know if an employer will consider the certificates valid.
