In case of Payroll:

Basically, as per what I know, questions relating to salary and wage administration will be asked. Calculation of salary, its breakdown, components, calculation of PF, ESI, PT, etc. Bonus, its applicability, and calculation, gratuity, its applicability, and calculation. Leave rules - EL/CL/SL. Also, they may ask the difference between Gross salary and CTC. Payment of Wages Act. Legal compliances and rules, etc., etc., and so on. It's very vast; can't write all.
