Contract Consultants' Leave Policies: Can They Carry Forward or Encash Leaves?

shailly
I had a query in case you can help. Are there any specific rules for leaves for employees/consultants on contract, such as how many leaves can he/she be given during the contract period? My main query is, can these leaves be carried forward or encashed similar to employees on rolls when the contract is being renewed?

My contract employees at the Project Manager Level are generally on a year-long contract. Please help.

Hi,

I am new to this network and find it rather interesting. I currently work for an International NGO in Central Asia. We do employ consultants on a regular basis for periods ranging from 1 to 3 months. They are compensated based on actual work days with a six-day work week, so it is no work, no pay. However, the national staff are also hired on contracts since their longevity is based on the duration of a project. For a one-year contract, we offer 17 working days of annual leave, but only 5 days can be carried forward to the next year. Any remaining annual leave balance at the end of the contract is encashable.

We international staff are also on contracts, and annual leave is granted as follows: 15 days for the first 5 years of service, 20 days for 5-10 years, and 30 days for more than 10 years. These are regular contracts and can be terminated at will with 2 months' notice.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Our ex-General Manager retired in 2003 and was then taken on a contract basis soon after his retirement. Initially, the contract was for a period of 2 years, and it expired last month. We propose to renew his contract for a further period. He was asked to take a break for 15-20 days for the renewal of his contract. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with the following:

1) Whether he is entitled to any leave, medical benefits, insurance, etc.
2) What is the maximum duration (contract period) that can be given to him at one stretch.
3) Application of deemed employee in this case.
4) What are the other points to be considered while issuing a contract letter to safeguard the company's interest.

Hi all!

I wanted to know which rule governs contract employment. Is a contract employee eligible for leaves and Provident Fund? Also, what does their salary structure comprise of? In short, I want to know the breakdown of the salary of an employee on a contract.

Waiting for a reply,
Shraddha.
