Bangalore CiteHR Members: How About a Monthly Meetup to Share and Grow Together?

srinaren
Hi Bangalore CiteHR Forum Members,

I saw a post in the forum that the CiteHR members in and around PUNE are planning to meet somewhere! Don't you all think it is a great idea! Yes! Why not we, the forum members in Bangalore, meet someday and get to know each other, discuss, help each other in case of any problems faced by them, suggest ways and means to solve the problems, etc. This we can have regularly once a month so that all of us meet at a common place and improve our knowledge!

" Folks, let me have your views, opinions, suggestions, ideas in this regard.

Hi Vinay,

It's a very good idea. Why don't you organize one such meet in Hyderabad? I would be very glad to participate.

Cheers,
Baskaran

Wow,

One more Bangalore retreat, good yar. You guys are lucky enough to have a group. Even I want to be a part of this retreat. Why don't we all members meet once a month in Mumbai or in any other city, where each one of us can come and share their knowledge? Why is it happening city-wise? I am asking this as people like me are missing out on such valuable meetings.

I don't have any problem in case you guys are continuing, but in my opinion, there should be a meeting once a month where we all can get together and maybe discuss what is happening in the city-wise forums, etc.

Anyways,

Regards, Preeti.

Hi, my dear Bangalore friends,

What happened? Friends other than in Bangalore are expressing their desire to participate in this type of get-together and meet once a month to have discussions, with a view to share! I know Bangalore is slow in these aspects, but cheer up my friends, come out with ideas, suggestions!

Hi Nambomita,

Our friends in Bangalore are experiencing some initial hiccups! The beginning is always slow, but after some time, the sluggishness transforms into stability. Eventually, they will be on the fast track! That's why I sang the song - "Utho Bangalorewale utho"! Everybody will come to know what is happening with the Bangalore meet once everything falls into place.

I have sent out an email to all members from Bangalore to inform them about this possible meeting. The email includes a link to this thread, making it easier for people to notice. Best of luck.

Hi,

It's indeed a wonderful idea; I am game for it. I think first we should identify a few volunteers who can take the responsibility for arranging the event. I am sure Srinaren can be unanimously chosen as one of the volunteers, and others can express their views on taking up the responsibility. What say, Bangalore junta?

Hi Bangalore friends,

We were trying to organize a meet in Kerala, but there has been hardly any response from here. If the date is convenient, I would also join the Bangalore meet. So count me in too... 😄

Hi CHR,

That's great! But unfortunately, the response is still poor. I did not expect that our Bangalore friends are so unenthusiastic! Buck up, friends. Please communicate your willingness and also your suggestions and views immediately. I am 100% sure this type of gathering will help all the members of the HR community. Only you will understand when you meet at least once. Please do respond!!

Hi Friends,

Great! At last, many of you are showing interest in the BANGALORE HR COMMUNITY GET TOGETHER. Let's work out the details in a professional manner and make this meet a grand success. It is great to know that even outside Bangalore, friends are showing keen interest in participating in this event.

So, friends, please email me at srinaren@rediffmail.com with your details, the responsibilities you can take, your expertise in arranging these types of events, your contact numbers, etc., so that we can plan out different committees for taking up different responsibilities. After mutual discussion, maybe we can meet informally at some place at a mutually convenient time and chart out the program.

I am expecting 100% involvement from all of you! Please do email me your details at the earliest.

We can meet informally at some place on a Sunday, preferably on the 10th of September around 3 PM. The choice of the venue is left to you all. Hi Praveen,

You are right! Even despite our preoccupations, we have to ensure that our meeting preparations move forward. In fact, I had asked our friends in Bangalore to suggest a venue for the informal meeting. I spoke to Sidhu and Bharathi today, and they are all keen to meet and discuss the preparations for the final meeting. I am definitely calling our friends who have shown interest in taking up responsibilities to get their opinions regarding the venue for our informal gathering. You can always contact me on my cell phone numbers 9341222749 or 9343866001, or via email at srinaren@rediffmail.com.

Hi Narendra,

One thing on my mind, let me explain to you. Why are members not showing zeal to meet? Reasons may be:

1) What are the benefits?
2) Wastage of time?
3) Wastage of money?

Now, please write to members explaining why there is a need for such a meeting.

Additionally, I suggest considering why we are not thinking of inviting big HR personalities/professionals to make such meetings fruitful and useful for members. If we do, we will certainly gain some positive outcomes.

Regards,
Sidheshwar
srinaren
Hi Mr. Siddeshwar,

I am certain that our forum members will understand the answers to the questions you have asked only if they have properly viewed the citehr site, participated in the discussions, and posted some queries. The meet will be a congregation of both experienced and inexperienced individuals in the HR field. The inexperienced individuals who have entered HR activities either out of compulsion or by choice, and who may have limitations in understanding certain details or hesitations in asking questions, can interact with professionals in the field to have their doubts clarified. I am confident that they will progress in their profession. I believe our friends should realize that this is a valuable opportunity and should make the best use of it!

Regarding your second suggestion, yes, I support it and am considering inviting HR leaders from prominent organizations known for their good HR practices and employee treatment, so that all of us can benefit. However, all of this can only be included and implemented if our friends show interest and actively participate in the event.

I apologize if my tone seems a bit harsh, but the fact remains,

Hi Everybody,

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm in attending the HR meet in Bangalore on 10th September. May I take this opportunity to share and clarify a few things!

Firstly, this meeting on 10th September is going to be an informal gathering to discuss the organization of an HR meet in Bangalore. We plan to invite well-known HR personalities from big industries who have made a mark in the HR world with their innovative ideas, policies, practices, etc., which will be of great help to the HR community.

Secondly, we will discuss the program for the final HR meet, including the presentation of interesting papers on important topics and the formation of different committees such as the organizing committee, reception committee, registration committee, seminar committee, hospitality committee, fundraising committee, etc., based on the organizing capacities of the members of citeHR.

Thirdly, I encourage all of us to make use of this final HR meet for our professional growth. Let's benefit from organizing this event in a professional and proper manner.

If you have anything else to convey, please inform me immediately.

Hi Everybody,

I am sure you are all wanting to know how the CiteHR Get-together at Bangalore went on! Is it not? How many people attended? What were the deliberations that took place? Can we have a look at the people whom you know only by name through photographs...etc.

Well, first let me tell you all...no's and not's! Disappointed! Well, good will follow the bad, always. Light after the dark, is it not?

Altogether, 25 CiteHR forum members confirmed their participation in this informal meet held today, i.e., 10 Sept 2006, at Karnataka Badminton Association. Unfortunately, the weather God played the spoilsport! There were heavy showers in Bangalore in the evening. So, hold your breath...! 12 members attended the informal chat daring the weather God! Great! Is it not!?

As for the photographs...oh! Sorry friends, you have to wait for some more time to see the charming faces of the members at Bangalore! I assure you, you will feel happy seeing them after some time!

The meet was attended by Rajaram, Kurian, Sidheshwar, Rekha, Ramya, Deepti, Bharathi, Kiran Kumar, Shubha, Amruth, Somu Shekar, and of course, me, Srinaren!

The meet was kick-started by welcoming the gathering by Srinaren, briefly explaining the idea behind organizing this meet. This was followed by the self-introduction of the participants.

Later on, Rajaram told the gathering that there are many forums of HR professionals, but we have to make this forum from CiteHR differently! This was very well received by the members who agreed that the meet should be different and useful. In this discussion, Srinaren, Kurian, Amruth, Praveen, Shubha, Rekha, Ramya, Siddeshwar participated actively.

Then, the members shared their experiences, views, and the present scenario of HR. Initially, HR was called as Labour Officer, then became Personnel Officer, and now Human Resources Officer. Kurian felt that we should not call it Human Resources because he felt that Resources are connected with manufacture. A separate post will be appearing shortly regarding this line of thinking! Please do await it from Siddeshwar.

It was decided to meet on the 2nd Sunday of every month. The meet will have an agenda that will be notified well in advance, and there will be deliberations on that subject. The members felt that this way, many problems can be discussed, and solutions can be obtained from the senior members. Everybody can come out with their experiences, views, and suggestions on the specified subject. This was well accepted by all the members of the meet.

All members felt that the attendance should improve, and they all assured they will recommend their friends to become CiteHR members and attend these monthly meetings.

We all had light refreshments, thanks to Rajaram, who hosted this meet.

The informal meet ended with a formal thanksgiving by Srinaren.

Thank you, friends, because all of you enjoyed the meet, participated in the lively discussions, and gave views, ideas, and suggestions! This gives us more courage and ability to arrange such meets. All our CiteHR friends, please do suggest the topics that are bothering you, things that require some suggestions from experienced people... go on suggesting! We will take up these topics in our monthly meets, discuss, and give you the views, suggestions, and ideas that may be useful to you. We will post the deliberations in detail on the site so that everybody will benefit.

Hi Prabhkar,

Our 2nd meeting is scheduled for 08/10/06. This meeting will address everything you have in mind. We are not KHARGOSH; we are KACHHUWA. I believe you are familiar with the friendship between KHARGOSH and KACHUWA. And who won the battle? Nothing more to say, just observe the outcome in the next Bangalore meeting.

Note: Dear Narendra sir, considering my travel schedule, please arrange a meeting on 08/10/06. Everyone should feel our collective strength. I am ready to play an important role if you initiate to ensure the success of this meeting.

Dear Sid'war,

Thanks for reminding about the great learning. However, whoever initiates the first step is called a path maker and breaker. Hyderabad has already created a path; you are only walking through it. We had announced our 2nd meet one week back on 08th Oct. Now, though you say you are meeting again, it will be 'cut and copy' only.

I present the scenario, Kachuwas cannot come out of water because the world is so cruel that they will kill the Kachuwas. Beware!!!!

The world knows which city is the Hitech city... :) What you are imagining to do in your 2nd meet, we have done in our first meet itself. However, I don't want to discourage you guys.

Hi Prabhakar,

In our dictionary, there is no scope of "cut" and "paste." It might be in your dictionary. What we do is different from others. Please wait for 8th October 2006. You will see our strength. Don't become overconfident. I'm not discouraging you, but the fact is that life is full of "ups" and "downs." Right now, you are on "top," and we are "down." Please don't mind because I believe in long-lasting results, not just a one-day show. Also, please see the survey of newspapers and magazines about the development of Bangalore before we discuss further.

Prabhakar & Sidheshwar,

Guys, what's happening?

Why indulge in this war of words? We are HR people and we need to smoothen relationships, not get caught up in one-upmanship and name-calling.

In all this, we are forgetting that CiteHr is essentially an 'online HR forum'.

On the web, it's not where you are from that matters but what you can contribute to other HR members that is important.

Prabs, even after I congratulated Hyderabad for its excellent show, is this how you repay my appreciation? (By calling Bangaloreans boasters?) I even sent you the name of one of my HR friends in Hyderabad so you could invite her to your next meet!

Sidheswar, we are meeting not to show others how many we are, but to discuss our issues and problems.

So, may I please request the honorable members of Hyderabad, Bangalore, and wherever else to work jointly for the development of HR worldwide, not just India or even one city.

Now I hope that this is taken in the right spirit by the seasoned Honorable members.

Regards,

K. Amruth Kumar
srinaren
Hi Friends,

I totally agree with Amruth. We are organizing the offline CiteHR meet for the benefit of the forum members and not as an issue of prestige or a show of strength. I am really pained by the way the issue has taken a turn. This offline meet is organized for the members of the forum to meet face to face, get to know each other, and discuss important things that may be required by the Bangaloreans, Hyderabadis, Chennaites, Kolkatans, Mumbaikars, and people from all over the world. The forum has members from across the globe, and the way you are fighting to showcase your organizing capabilities seems to me as if you have forgotten the whole purpose behind organizing the meet. Actually, according to CHR, many more interesting things are in the pipeline, and if this attitude continues, I am afraid the whole purpose of conducting the offline meet will be defeated. Please use your wisdom and work for the greater benefit of the forum members.

-Srinaren
sidhu1972
Hi Amruth & Narendra,

Without a challenge in a positive way, we are unable to meet our requirement. We are here to debate on the issue too. If somebody is in confusion, our role is to remove his/her confusion. My intention is not to defeat anyone like Prabhakar but to add fuel to meet the purpose. We have to convince everybody to participate. If we are not doing this, it means nothing is going to happen. Amruth, you should know the fact of a challenge in a positive way. I'm not here to fight, and time also doesn't permit to do so. If you are really interested in meeting on 08/10/06 for some positive purpose, please let us point out the agenda so that every member may be informed and can plan accordingly.

Hi Amrut, please revert with positive comments.

Dear Bangaloreans,

I am certainly glad to read of your first meeting and what you achieved. However, I was a little dismayed to read the very negative and aggressive dialogues later. Look, we are all equal members of CiteHR, and the success of each meet, wherever it may be, only reinforces this. No one is better than another - we are only different - and it is the differences that add spice to the mixture! Hyderabadis who were involved in the above, please also note!

Please read the posts I have made in DRISHTI - the Mumbai meet - I hope you will support all the suggestions made... with your support, we will make CiteHR a community to be proud of!

All the best, Jeroo

It was a great pleasure talking to you last evening. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm working hard to get more registrations from Chennai for Citehr and for the meeting scheduled on the 7th of October, as there is a low number of registrations in Chennai.

I am looking forward to more suggestions and support.

Regards,
Raj

Hi Raj,

It was my pleasure also for having spoken to you! I appreciate your initiative in organizing an offline HR meet. We are all here to help in case you need anything. Try to put up an agenda for your meeting and discuss the most wanted subjects for HR professionals. This way, everybody in the forum benefits.

Please provide the details of the meet to CHR so that he can put it on the homepage for more publicity. Additionally, reach out to HR professionals from other industries, explain the significance of the meeting, and encourage them to visit the citeHR site. Once they visit, they will realize the importance of registering!

Wishing you all the best,

Srinaren

Srinaren,

Can we start the new thread for the second meet? We will get more registrations for the meet and get more HR personnel aware of CITEHR.

Praveen

Dear Bangaloreans,

This time, Hyderabad is meeting with 60 people. Anyone want to challenge us?

Hi Prabhakar,

We really do not want to engage in any word battles! We are interested in serving the HR community with useful information, knowledge, solutions, and would not like to enter into any war of words or mudslinging. I wish you all the best and hope your expectation of 60 will exceed a hundred and benefit the HR community.

All the best,
Srinaren

Agree wholeheartedly with Srinaren.

By the way, what did Hyderabad talk about? No postings on subjects, topics, consensus so far? Something surely must have come out of the meeting.
