Navigating Labor Licenses: How Can a Subcontractor Get One for Over 20 Workers?

Subramanianj
Dear Seniors,

A company engages a contractor. The contractor is given Form V by the company. If the work is subcontracted by the contractor, what will be the procedure for the subcontractor to get a labor license if more than 20 workers are engaged by the subcontractor.

In my understanding, the company can give Form V only to the contractors as they would have registered with the concerned labor officer with Form II, mentioning the contractor's name.

Learned forum members, kindly clarify this issue.

Dear Suba,

You are correct, and the contractor will attach a copy of the registration for applying for the license.

Thank you,

Mr. Malik,

My doubt is how will the subcontractor be able to register if the Form II submitted by the principal employer has the name of the contractor alone. Kindly clarify this aspect.

Dear Contractor,

The contractor will submit the license form to the labor authorities with the requisite fee and security deposit along with the registration certificate issued to the employer. Your registration should have the name of the firm of that contractor. Then, he will get the license.
