Campus Hiring on a Budget: How Can We Cut Costs and Secure Prime Dates?

Hi,

Kindly help me to get more information related to the various aspects of campus hiring. The ultimate purpose is to bring down the cost and how to make the whole campus activity more cost-effective. We are a telecom software development company that engages in both local and outstation campus hiring.

Q1: Please suggest some measures to bring down the total cost of campus hiring.

Q2: Additionally, how can we create a positive influence for the allocation of the best possible campus dates?

Answers to your questions:

A1. If you analyze the total cost that a company spends on campus recruitment, it amounts to approximately Rs. 2500 per candidate hired. Consider the cost of the HR Exec hired, traveling, accommodation, infrastructure, etc. Therefore, what I have found as a solution to a company recruiting in bulk is to OUTSOURCE. These companies charge you either on the basis of per candidate hired or per campus visited or per campus(es) visited. Normally, it's per campus / campus(es) visited. These companies not only recruit at a lower cost but also brand your company for future recruitments.

A2. Always remember that campuses are in need of your visits as well. Create a database region-wise, arrange for a common venue, and in turn inform all the campuses in that location about your hiring schedule. Of course, this needs to be done not during exam time or event times.

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion and timely response. Could you please also provide information on how we can schedule the first campus visit dates at reputed colleges? It may not be very cost-effective for my company to conduct visits to two or three campuses in one go at the same location.

Hi Radhika,

You can even go for an online system. This will help you save a lot of costs as all the testing and sorting can be done online. There can be a standard application form that will help you track the details of all candidates in a standardized format. This will serve as a database which you can also use for future references.

You could easily do it by creating a nodal center for hiring fresh talent. A nodal center can be established based on the area being an education hub in a region. We invite you to our college for the campus recruitment drive by designating our college as a nodal center.
