Hi,
Is it okay to have more than one PF account. If not can we close the account after 5 years. Also what is the procedure of closing it. The company with which i was working has merged with other company and on calling them they told me that they don't have the recoeds. So what to do in the case.
Thanks

I think it is better to transfer your Old PF account to the New current PF account, you can do this simply by filling up the Form No 13, which is meant for transfering of your Old PF account into the new PF account. You have to filled separate Form No. 13 for the transfering the PF from the separate company. That form has to be attested by the present employer only, you should have the Old PF account Number.
Form No 13 is easily available form the PF department. However I am attaching the copy of the same.

Hi,
Thanks Rajeev for the quick response. But the scenario is I have four PF accounts. One with the present employer and three with the previous companies. I contacted the previos companies and two of them told me what to do. But one of the company with which i worked has merged with another company. On contacting them they say they don't have my records. I worked with the company for one year and i resigned in 2005. What to do in this case.
Thanks
Rajeev Verma
You have to take the PF account numbers of the Previous three companies and filled Three different form No.13 through your present employer.

hi,
As per my knowledge,
The Both Companies has to submit the amongulation(its a document given by the court the both companies are merged) in the P.F.Office and transfar the amount from old PFaccount to new PFaccount.
The old company has to give the closing letter of account with the amongulation.

hi,
what Mr.Rajeev Verma said is right, you submit the 3 forms(form 13), 1st account to present account,2nd account to present account and 3 rd account to present account like that u have to submit in PF office with the sign of present employer. Finally u get all old accounts amount transfar to present account.
bye....
