Sending an Employee to the US on an L1 Visa: How Do We Adjust Their Compensation to Match US Standards?

cirus
Hello Friends,

First time we are sending an employee on an L1 visa; need information from the HR fraternity regarding restructuring the compensation part of the employee to match up with US payout standards. X employee - 8 lac CTC in India, sending him to the US on an L1 visa. What would be the revised CTC in this case? What would be the minimum bandwidth raise to be given to match up with the US compensation and basic needs? As I'm not having much knowledge on this, any information provided on the above would be of great help.

Thank you.

Hi Cirus, the kind of request you are looking for needs a bit more information such as the revised CTC again will depend on factors like:
1. Education Qualification.
2. Skills.
3. Which US state we are referring to, etc.

Please help with these and I could be able to reply back on it.

Dear Circus,

Your question itself is confusing because of half information. Why are you comparing US salary with India when it is totally unmatched? You need to provide us with his nature of job and level of job in the present company. I have the latest US and European salary surveys with rates, but I need information on his number of years of experience and a brief job description to fit him into the US salary grade structure.

However, we must understand your company's pay strategy. If I place him at the midpoint, it will be an average salary, while positioning him in the 3rd quartile would mean a competitive salary to prevent his migration to another company. Additionally, please provide details of the current benefits components as Indian benefits are not directly comparable. We need to somehow align them with the US benefits and perks system.

Sawant
