Hi,
SAP HR is an ERP package with many modules across different domains like HR, Finance, Sales, MM, and more.
For individuals in HR looking to transition to SAP, it is essential to have some domain experience initially. This means gaining practical hands-on experience in various areas such as payroll, time office, recruitment, appraisals, training & development, etc.
SAP HR encompasses numerous modules like payroll, which includes break schedules and daily schedules. In configuring break schedules, there are paid breaks, unpaid breaks, and shifts. Each criterion requires the configuration of a specific break schedule. Having prior experience in payroll processing and time management with different shifts can facilitate a better understanding of these concepts. Therefore, it is advisable to have at least 2 years of HR experience before delving into SAP HR.
Regarding opportunities, there are limited openings for SAP roles for freshers. However, undergoing training adds value to one's resume and enables skill enhancement with an ERP package.
Opportunities in SAP can be classified into two categories: consultants (involved in implementing SAP for clients) and users (working in companies utilizing SAP for HR functions). Obtaining training in SAP is beneficial for both roles.
Certifications for SAP are provided by SIEMENS, the authorized organization, albeit at a high cost. Local institutes in various locations also offer training in SAP modules. Those who can afford certification fees can pursue it, while others can opt for training in the latest version of SAP HR at reputable institutes.
In terms of job profiles, consulting roles in SAP may involve extensive travel depending on allocated projects. Consultants might have to work on-site at client locations for varying durations. Individuals willing to travel frequently and prepared for unexpected trips may find this career path suitable.
The insights shared are based on my practical experience and knowledge, as I am trained in SAP HR and have received an offer from a CMML company for SAP HR.
Any suggestions regarding the above content are welcome.
