Building a Comprehensive Job Title Database for HR in India: Seeking Your Feedback and Guidance

Hi Everyone,

I am working on a project to create a database of all possible job titles/designations classified into categories based on Industry type, Industry Sector, Domain, Functional Area, and Sub-Functional Area. The objective is to have a database that would equip any HR professional with a near-comprehensive classification of all jobs available in India, essentially a glossary of jobs in India.

I posted a query in this forum hoping to receive some assistance but have not received a reply to date. In the meantime, I have gathered information from the ILO website on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO - 08), which has provided me with a broad insight into different occupations and associated job titles. I have attached them here for the CiteHR community, from which I have obtained a treasure trove of information.

Please provide me with feedback and guidance on my project.

Thanks for those very encouraging words :-D. I was hoping for some assistance from the fraternity to help me complete my project. I was wondering whether I'm on course in my attempt, as I did not get any feedback from the forum. Anyhow, I continue with my attempt to build a database of all possible occupational titles in various industry sectors in India. Understanding and compiling the roles and responsibilities associated with these job titles will help in building a profile library based on functional roles, which in turn would be a small knowledge base for the following slew of activities:

- Job Analysis
- Preparing Job Descriptions / Specifications
- Preparing a competency-based Skill matrix
- Assist a recruiter in making the right decisions during screening candidate profiles

I hope this clarifies my goals and how I plan to achieve them. Let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback. Thank you for your support.
