Is a One-Year Management Certificate from IIM Worth the Investment for Career Growth?

Dear Senior,

I intend to pursue a PG certificate programme in management from IIM Indore. NIIT Imperia has partnered with IIM's and they are promoting such programmes. Certificates will be issued by IIM. I would like to know whether this programme will help enhance my career. I am a little skeptical since it is a one-year certificate programme and the cost is around 1.8L.

Please guide me on whether this programme holds value in the market. I hold a PGDSW from IISWBM and a PGD in Public Relations.

XLRI has recently advertised for a PG Certificate in HR. The deadline for applications is September. You need to have 2 years of experience. Check their website.

Mr. Siddharthan has replied very well. If your other qualifications do not make any difference to your career, how will an IIM certification make a difference? All educational qualifications, no matter where you obtain them, deserve respect for the hard work you put in. If you do not respect your hard work and institute, nobody else will bother about your qualifications if they do not make any sense.

You have completed a PGDSW from IISWBM and a PGD in Public Relations. What about the application of your knowledge? Educational qualifications serve as a certificate to practice your specialized profession, regardless of where you obtained them. You must value this by recognizing your capabilities.

Asking about the market value of an IIM certification is important. It's not the certification itself that holds value in the market, but rather the individuals who demonstrate excellence and earn recognition, regardless of their educational institution. In India, a democratic country, you have the right to prove your strengths and establish new benchmarks.
