IT Industries and Call Centers: Does the Factories Act or Shop Act Apply?

Hi, can anyone tell me for IT industries and call centers - is the Factories Act applicable, or does it come under the Shop Act? Please post a reply.

As there is no manufacturing activity involved in IT & BPO industries, they are governed by the Shops and Establishments Act. - Saravana Rajan

Dear Pravin,

The Factories Act is applicable only to factories engaged in manufacturing activities, while the Shops and Establishments Act is applicable to the IT industry.

I agree with Trisha and Saravana Rajan. IT and BPO industries fall under the Shop Act.
