Hi,
If you want to go for a PhD, first of all, search for some good universities and then look out for a topic that you want to do research on.
Most universities offer PhD programs, generally as non-residential so you can pursue this while working.
If you are not working, you can apply for a scholarship, typically ranging from 10k to 14k, depending on the institute.
I'm currently pursuing my PhD at IIT Delhi. You can also consider applying to IIT Mumbai, where the Management department is very well established.
Many other institutes also offer similar programs, but they may refer to it as a Fellowship program, which is equivalent to a PhD but not a degree.
Once you decide on a topic, a synopsis is prepared with the guidance of a university or institute-appointed guide.
The submission of the synopsis can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. Once it's approved and you pass your viva, you become an enrolled student.
Your research work then begins in earnest, in consultation with your guide. The maximum time allowed to submit your thesis is 7 years, with a minimum requirement of 2 and a half years.
Upon successful completion, you earn your doctorate. 😊
