How Can Employees Claim Their ESIC Contributions After Resignation?

ajithaa
Hi friends,

I have a query about ESIC. I clearly understand from the other topics on ESI that the employee contribution is 1.75% per month on gross salary of 10,000 and below, and the employer's contribution is 4.75% per month on gross salary of 10,000 and below.

I want to know how they can claim it. Will the employee get it encashed once he resigns, or can it only be derived by directly visiting the ESI for treatment? Please clarify.

Dear Ajitha,

ESIC is basically an employee beneficiary insurance scheme in which the contribution amount by both the employee and employer is non-claimable. However, both of them receive medical aid in the event of any accident, sickness, or medical emergency. ESIC reimburses the amount spent on the treatment of employees during the above cases and also pays an amount up to a certain percentage in case of employee absenteeism due to medical grounds.

Various forms and procedures are available with ESIC for these different situations. They have the largest chain of hospitals and dispensaries where treatments are provided free for covered employees.

On the employer's part, by paying contributions, it covers all the risks involved in the event of any industrial accident and sickness of employees.

Rahul

Dear Ajithaa,

I completely agree with what Rahul has told. I would like to give additional information to you that ESI can also be covered for the dependents of Employees. For more information about ESI, please visit the ESI website at www.esic.nic.in. I hope this information will be useful for you.
