How Do We Handle Legal Changes for a Company Name Update Across India?

Kindly please help me in this regard:

Our management has decided to change the company name. Please suggest to me how to go about it.

Forms under EPF & ESI and any other related notices, notifications, or intimations.

We are placed all over India.

Hi Ramakrishna,

As the nature of your company is not mentioned, I am detailing below the departments which are generally related to the industry and should be informed in such cases.

The intimation of the change of the company's name has to be given along with a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation (Issued by the Registrar of Companies) having the new name to all the concerned departments like:

- Industrial Health & Safety (For Factory License - the new license has to be obtained, it is not transferable)

- PF - The same number will be allotted to the new company. You also have to inform them of the new authorized signatories.

- ESIC - The same number will be allotted to the new company.

- Employment Exchange, Labour Department, Telephone - To be transferred to the new name, Pollution Board - If you have obtained, I.T.I. institute in your area, Industrial Development Corporation (If land on lease from them), Directorate of Industries, and District Industries Centre.

- Sales Tax - The same number will be allotted to the new company.

- Central Excise - The same number will be allotted to the new company.

- State Excise Department/Customs Department/Prevention of Food Adulteration Department, FDA, etc.

These are all I can remember. However, there may be more related to your industry.

What Mr. Anurag has said is absolutely correct. We have also pursued a change in the name of the company through the same process. The only outstanding matters are the issuance of the Factory License and obtaining consent from the Pollution Control Board.

I need to inquire about these with the respective department. Once I have the information, I will update you on the formalities promptly.
