Hi Malini,

First of all, make sure you have the organization structure with you. Take positions stream-wise like Sales and Marketing, HR, Technical Development, Finance (typical in an IT scenario). Line out responsibilities in front of each role. Create a competency matrix - like soft skills and role-based technical skills. Map them along with the respective Project Manager for individual employees. Tell them where they stand and what is expected out of them. Show them hierarchy and ask them where they want to reach (ask about career goals, interests, and abilities). Ask them what is required to reach there from the organization. Based on their expectations and capabilities, draw a career growth plan for individuals. Please remember it is not an easy task, very time-consuming, and brainstorming. It has to be evaluated very patiently, along with respective heads. Do let me know if any clarification is required.

Hi Malini ji,

Career planning is not an easy task, and it requires thorough preparation. Before initiating career planning for employees, several factors need to be taken into account:

1. Identify the type of organization you are working in.
2. Analyze the industry's growth trajectory in which your organization operates.
3. Understand your organization's growth plan, including projected turnover, technological advancements, and workforce requirements.
4. Evaluate the initial recruitment process.
5. Determine the training methods to enhance the skills of your workforce.
6. Assess the organizational culture as it can impact employee retention.
7. Consider whether your organization can meet the remuneration expectations of employees compared to other companies.
8. For workers and junior staff, consider the perspective of any labor unions within your organization.

It is crucial to deeply contemplate these factors before implementing them practically.

I appreciate your initiative in undertaking career planning. Take the suggestions provided as constructive feedback.
