Hi HR21stCentury,
Grand welcome to the forum! It is my pleasure to answer your first query on this forum. I hope this site proves to be a great learning experience for you, as it has been for many of us.
I would like to get inputs on your relocation policy and transportation policy for salesmen.
Relocation Policy:
1. Rationale for this Policy:
Relocation cost or rather policy is required to meet the transfer expenses of the new employee or existing employee with respect to transfer as per the business or to join your company.
2. On average, how much do you offer?
It all depends; some companies have fixed limits across the levels, and it is more rational to factor in actual costs like:
a. Cost of transportation of household goods by road
b. Cost of travel from the existing place to the proposed place of posting for the person & his family.
c. Cost incurred in setting up the household at the new place.
On average, we pay about Rs. 70,000 - 100,000 (Indian Rupees) approximately. Here, we also provide for the deposit of the house as an interest-free loan recoverable in 12 to 18 months.
3. Conditions:
It is paid on actuals subject to the production of bills and supportings. If the person quits within a year, the amount spent as above is to be recovered in proportion to the period served from his full and final settlement. It is better to have clear estimates for the above expenses at the time of finalization of negotiations.
Transportation Policy for Sales:
1. Rationale:
2. Average Transportation Allowance for a Salesman using his own car.
3. Average Transportation Allowance for a Salesman using a company-provided car/car plan.
4. How many liters of gas allowed?
5. Who defines this?
Again, this is country-specific, but in general, we pay Rs. 4 - 5 per km if one uses their car for official use or if the company provides the car with full responsibility for maintenance of fuel and a driver who is expected to maintain the logbook to prevent misuse and separate official and personal trips.
Hope this has cleared some of your doubts. Have a great day!
Regards,
Rajat
