I have 5.5 years of experience in software development. However, one problem is that I have completed my MCA from IGNOU, which is in distance mode. I am going to join a branded company in Mumbai. I have a fear that they may not accept my MCA degree at the time of joining. During the interview, they did not ask anything about my MCA, and I did not disclose that it was through distance education. As per their advertisement, they were only asking for any graduation degree.

What should I do if they do not accept my MCA degree? Please advise me as I am set to join this company in 10 days.

It depends on the mindset of a particular HR person or company policy. As an HR professional, I feel experience should be considered even if the degree is obtained through distance learning. Nowadays, distance learning is gaining momentum, and I believe it is perfectly acceptable for a candidate to work while studying at an open school.

I want to urge all HR professionals not to be biased and to provide equal opportunities to all students. Candidates should be evaluated based on their knowledge, attitude, and willingness to work hard. I have observed many full-time candidates who have completed their projects using the copy-paste method.

Individuals pursuing distance learning, especially those with relevant experience in their field, demonstrate a desire to grow and compete with others. While there are some who may try to deceive, as HR professionals, we should ensure that everyone is treated fairly.
